Advertising links

On two occasions now I have found adware on my computer that makes links from key words on my blog posts. When I discover them I remove them. It's unfair for these companies to use my site to advertise their products which I neither get compensated for or even endorse. I do sometimes use links in my posts so for now at least if you see a single word link such as "book" or something similar don't click it.

Happy Hallowe'en

Deep Colour in Black and White

Okay here is something I think you can put fairly high on your list of things not to do. Read Stephen King late at night. Spend that night tossing and turning. Get up at 4am and go up that mountain I've been visiting lately and stand in the middle of a moonlit field where it's quiet. Dead quiet. So quiet you can hear the squish of the dog poop you step in (I wish people wouldn't do that). So quiet the rustle of leaves caught in a slight breeze startle you and you turn on your flashlight that throws a beam three feet. You're constantly trying to see if something really did move at that treeline. You get back to your car safely and lock the doors knowing full well a bear or a werewolf is going to come and smack the side window. Because they do that right? So I don't recommend it. Unless you're into that kind of scarey stuff. Not me, at least not alone. *shiver*

But enough of that. The sun came up and I survived to do yet more timelapse of the city. Of course whiling away the hours I would bring out the little camera. Although I was taking photos of some nice deep sunrise colours today I felt like there should be monochrome.

On the way home I stopped to do some more timelapse of the Lions Gate bridge. Carrying on with the theme of monochrome I shot some leaves. What would autumn be without a few photos of autumn leaves on the ground.

As you approach the overpass you will notice some very small lion statues. They're pretty small so don't blink or you'll miss them.

Pepper Delight

No one seemed to mind I rearranged some peppers to make the "found" still life a little more aesthetically appealing. I imagine though if I started to rearrange the whole vegetable section they would prefer I buy the vegetables and do that at home.

The View From Here

If you're ever unhappy in this city or dissatisfied, come sit here a while.

It's peaceful,

yet spectacular.

The view here is really something else.

Unless it's raining. Then maybe go see a movie or have coffee with a friend. Stay dry.

Please Don't Litter

Today I went to New Westminster to try some more timelapse photography. I took my photos from the multi level parking lot that runs along the East side of downtown. While there I was able to look down at the site where there was a fire that destroyed some heritage buildings and about a dozen businesses. The site is a jumbled pile of bricks, wood, and steel. My eye went straight to the little trash bin sitting on top of all this.

Passing the Time

I got up bright and early this morning. Well, maybe not so bright but definitely early. The plan was to catch a timelapse of the sunrise with Mount Baker in it. I was partially successful as the sunrise looked pretty good but Baker was mostly obscured by fog and was small in the frame. I am going to have to revisit this deep into the winter.

So what does one do for two hours whilst patiently waiting for the the sun and camera to do their thing. Take pictures of course! This is another reason to have two cameras. I did take a few pictures but my fingers started to freeze so I pocketed the camera. Then I remembered I had gloves.
There are other things to occupy oneself waiting. You may attract attention to yourself just by standing at the side of the road with a camera on a tripod. A farmer stopped to ask what I was taking photos of. I debated explaining timelapse photography but I think he was just concerned I was spying on his farm. An early morning walker had a look. He leaned over to the viewfinder while I worried he was going to knock the tripod over. This train rumbled by. There is something satisfying about watching a train pass by. It makes sitting at a crossing bearable unless of course one is late for lunch.

Heads Up!

Driving home yesterday going by Surrey Memorial Hospital where they are doing a lot of construction and demolition to make way for more construction I guess. Looked out the window and saw a giant claw tearing apart the parking lot. I had to turn around.

A Step Back in Time

My good friend Sylvia and I met at the Planet Java Fifties Cafe in Fort Langley today. I've been before and have taken photos inside. Here was what I saw today.

At the Picnic Bench

Coming to you live from Robert Point,  Barnston Island. Once again I forgot to put the memory card in the camera.  Not to fear,  this camera can be controlled by the phone and when it is the photos go right to the phone. Lucky for me!

I think I'm all rested up now I can hop on the bike and head for home.

Walk After the Walk

Dar and I joined the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk today. For that I took Mustang Sally although Mr Ed was in my pocket. We walked on the seawall for a while then went for coffee and I packed her away. On the walk back to the car I brought out Mr Ed for some quick shots. That quick walk turned into about half an hour. It is so much fun and this little camera is quite up to the task.

So Telus what do you think of Science World at night?
Quite spectacular I'd say.

Just on a technical note, I used HDR same as in the photos I took at Christ Church

Dancing the digital Way

> Hmmmm.....

So I was out the other day and took this photo. I like taking photos with clouds in them. Sometimes the clouds are great but there's there nothing to take them with. Take the photo and figure out something to do with it later I figure.

Later sitting in a local food court I took this.

I took them looking for something different in each. I was wondering if either of them was something I wanted to post. Then I said "Hmmmm" (actually I only thought it. Not talking to myself out loud. Yet) what if I put them together somehow. I am going to have to get back to you on this one.
